Happy anniversary to me.
It was Valentine's day five years ago when I left Utah to move to California. Really the plan was to just come to California for a few months, and then move to Las Vegas. Somewhere in there plans changed and a few months sort of morphed into five years. So today as I sat here reading the article in the Deseret News about small children being stranded at school for the night (it came as absolutely no suprise to me that this happened to kids in Alpine school district, that school district is notorious for refusing to call for a snow day, even when there's a legit need. Someone should lose their job over this latest little stunt.) I realized that I now celebrate five years since I have had to scrape a car window, and really...I couldn't be happier to leave that little chore behind me. I was one of those people that detested scraping my windshield so much, that I would only scrape a hole maybe slightly larger than a softball, just enough to allow me to see cars in front of me, and the yellow line in the middle of the road. Then there was that year that water somehow managed to get in the doorlocks on my car, and freeze up evertime I forgot about it and locked my car. I had to carry a lighter around in my pocket so I could heat up the key. Then there were the mornings when the entire door froze shut...and I don't even like to think about the times that I failed to beat the snow plow out, and had to shovel my car free. Five years without snow, and I can't really say that I'm missing it.

John also only scrapes a little of the snow off so he can drive. When I see this I am like "how can you see?" He seems to think he can see just fine. It is pretty funny. I need to get a picture sometime and send it to you. I too miss Cali, when the weather is like this up here. This winter has been brutal!!
