My headache eventually went away yesterday, and I managed to emerge from my house in time to get the oil in my car changed, and to attend FHE. After FHE I was walking home and talking on the phone with Jim. I guess walking around the neighborhood by myself at almost 10pm reminded me that I'd been meaning to check the sex offenders registry list for the zipcode, to see if that three time convicted rapist was still living over on 13th street. Besides that I'm of the belief that everyone should periodically check the registry in their area (parents of small children especially), just so you can be more aware.
When I got home, still on the phone I pulled up the California registry and checked my zip code. Surprisingly enough I didn't find a single offender living in the numbered streets. I could tell that talking about the offenders in my area was not riveting telephone conversation. To liven things up a bit I offered to search his zip code for pervs. Salt Lake is FULL of them. I couldn't believe how many child molesters there were just in his area. The news that his next door neighbor is one of them definitely made the conversation more interesting, in a not so upbeat kind of way. At least the majority of the offenders in my zip code aren't after little kids.
Jim insisted that we spend a few minutes discussing something unrelated before he went to bed so that he wouldn't have any dreams about the neighbor. Probably a good idea. I really had no idea there were so many offenders in Salt Lake though. I can't figure out what it is that's going on in that city that seems to be attracting them.

When we moved here, I also check the registry. You never know who lives in your neighborhood. There was one that was after little boys but someone said he has since moved. I have to look more regularly. I don't think I've checked it out in over a year.
