I love Thursdays, at least this month I do. I don't have to drive to San Diego, and I get to stay home, eat dinner before 10:30pm, and I don't have to listen to presentations about sick weirdos. Yesterday's presentation on human trafficking was shocking. Turns out I knew nothing about human trafficking. Almost everything in that presentation was new material.
The self-defense thing was kind of a waste, it was just about gouging out eyes, and kneeing men in the groin. If you watch any television at all you should be able to figure those out on your own. I don't know what I was expecting. The instructor did give quite a little speech on how having a firearm isn't a good idea because there's so much to involved in having a gun. She made it sound like the complexities of owning and learning to handle a gun are so great that it should just be avoided all together.
Anyway, I have two days to take a little break before I gear up to go back down there on Saturday to talk about abusive gay relationships and transgenders. Gay relationships is no big deal, but the transgenders really disturb me. I have not always been as discrimnating about what I watch on television as I should be, and for reasons that are still not clear to me I watched a gender reassignment surgery on TV once. It takes a close second behind the Jeffrey Dahmer documentary on my list of the all-time most disturbing TV programs I've seen. In both instances I clearly suffered from a severe lapse in judgment. At least after the gender reassignment surgery I just felt ill, and wasn't afraid to open my refridgerator.
