Putting the Training to use
This last weekend was my first full weekend being on call in San Diego. My first shift started on Saturday at 6am, so I decided to go down Friday night, just to be on the safe side. A good call on my part since I got called out at 5:45am. Everything went very well. I was actually so excited to finally get put to use that I had to make an effort to refrain from being too enthusiastic when I arrived. As predicted I completely screwed up the paperwork on the first one. Why I was completely unable to handle filling out the little two page form is not clear to me, but I had a nagging fear I was going to mess that up, and I guess it was self-fulfilling prophesy or something. On the bright side I got my second call late Saturday night, and I believe I was able to complete the paperwork appropriately that time. I feel bad for the person who has to come in to work this morning and try and figure out what was going on with that first person though. The whole thing was a disaster. All in all, I have to say that thus far this has proven to be a really fascinating experience. I'm kind of looking forward to my weekend down there next month. Hopefully next time I won't get called out so early right off the bat, and I'll have the energy to get up and get ready to go do something fun Saturday afternoon while I'm not on call. I want to go to Coronado Island again, and one of these weekends I think I'm going to go purchase myself an annual pass to the San Diego zoo. Might as well, right?
