I've thought about doing a blog for a while, and I even set this blog up a few months back, and then promptly forgot about it. However I decided to revisit the issue today since we've sort of hit a slump at work, as in there is nothing to do.
I've been filling my day posting away in the patriarchal blessings threads on the Guard. For those of you unfamiliar with the Guard, this is the board where the rejects from the board go to post. I'm no longer able to post on the board at work because it's been blocked (yes, it's probably blocked because I spent too much time on there, but there's no way of really knowing for certain), so I'm left posting on the Guard. The Guard is a smaller crowd, and generally a bit more liberal. The discussion today has mostly been whether or not you view your patriarchal blessing as a fortune, or a blessing, and whether or not you think your patriarch just made stuff up or was actually inspired. It's been a very interesting discussion. One guy admitted that he threw his away a few years ago because he felt like it didn't offer him any advice that he can't figure out on his own. Bold move I thought.
As soon as football season starts I'll have my fantasy team to fill some of this down time. I feel pretty good about my team this year, and I'm optimistic that we can win the SuperBowl. Unless something goes VERY wrong we should at least be in the playoffs this year. I've been checking up on my boys every day to see how things are going in the pre-season. (One of my QB's has been underperforming in his exhibition games, which has me a bit concerned, and I have a RB that has suffered a minor ankle sprain. Which is also a cause for concern since he's missing valuable playing time when he needs to be out there trying to win the starting position.) There's been a bit of a setback with that today however. Maybe the website is just on the fritz or something, but team BDB seems to be sans any players at all. I've checked the other teams, and their rosters have also been wiped clean. I've already called and left a message with the commissioner (GG) about the problem, so hopefully he'll know what's going on and be able to fix it. Updates to follow...
Aside from that I've been sitting here eavesdropping on conversations between Underwriter Andrew and his coworkers. Andrew is a bit of a Michael Scott, in that he's a nice guy but so lacking in social skills that you sometimes feel embarrassed for him, and sometimes amused. Today he's been sharing stories with Underwriter Phyllis about his escapades with "toilet liquor." I assume that's a homemade liquor, but I'm really not familiar with the term. Needless to say Phyllis didn't seem all that impressed and finally lashed out at him in an attempt to end the conversation and get back to work. Right now he's talking to his girlfriend on the phone about one of their other friends that has been acting weird lately. I kind of love cubicles. It's the coworkers that have that false sense of privacy in their work area that make it so much fun for the rest of us. :)
