I have a cold right now. I think it's vastly improved today. Yesterday was kind of a different story, I kept sneezing. I estimate that I must have sneezed around 30 times throughout the day. Everytime I sneezed Underwriter Andrew would say "bless you" and then I would feel pressured into replying "thank you." Needless to say, with the excessive sneezing that was going on, this little exchange was getting to be a real irritant. After a while I tried ignoring him, and not responding (especially since I couldn't figure out why I was thanking him, when I didn't feel at all thankful), but it didn't stop him. I guess it was also bothering my coworker Steve, because after a particularly loud "bless you" this morning he sent me the following email:
"He's very courteous. See how far you can push him. Sneeze every couple minutes for the next two hours and see if he gives up."
If I were only able to sneeze on command I would have done it. I can't though, so it didn't happen.
Underwriter Andrew and Philip have been chatting all morning. At one point the topic of their conversation was feral humans raised by animals. Philip was sharing a story he'd heard of a small child that was cared for by a wolf pack for several months before he was found. Suddenly Andrew interrupted with, "WAIT! This sounds really familiar. Are we talking about Mowgli?" Philip seemed kind of confused, when he replied with something like "What? Mowgli? I'm not sure..." All the while Andrew's going on "You know? Mowgli. The kid that was raised by wolves in the jungle?" I'm pretty sure Philip never did figure out what Andrew was talking about, because all he said was "No, I don't think this was in Africa." I was doing my very best to keep from laughing outloud when I got the following email from Steve:
"Few people know that Rudyard Kipling wrote non-fiction..."
