When they got back we left for dinner, and found a bar/restaurant that was somehow managing to play American ESPN. So we wanted to eat there so we could watch the ticker to see how bad the utes were going to get worked by UCLA, and Tulsa by BYU. Boy if that wasn't a downer. When we say that Utah score I honestly couldn't figure out what was going on.
It was September 16th, which is Mexico's Independence Day. The plaza was totally decked out with a bunch of Viva Mexico stuff. Everyone meets at the plaza at midnight for the grito nacional. I was pretty excited about this. My mom said she'd pass, but my dad was going to go. Although he insisted that we didn't need to leave the hotel until 11:30pm. I wasn't happy about that. Should have gone alone, but I didn't, and the Mexicans got drunk and did the grito at 11:30. I was pretty ticked that we missed it. We still walked down there to watch all the drunks crowded together in the plaza.
I have video, but it freezes my computer to upload those.
After the turtle farm we caught a bus to Merida. Supposedly we were going to spend the night there and proceed to Uxmal the other day. Unbeknownest to my mother and I my dad had decided that we were going to catch another bus (total of 5 hours on a bus) to ticul becuase it's actually closer to Uxmal. He didn't really tell us about this plan. So we got off in Merida, and let's just say there was some words exchanged and my mother and I sat in the bus stop and refuesd to board anymore buses until we had received an explanation and apology. We barely made it on the bus to ticul. More to follow...

Those turtles are darn cute. So, did the whole farm consist of a big tub?
There were bigger turtles paddling around outside in a fenced off portion of the ocean. Then three pools on the beach with medium sized turtles in them. Inside there were three big tubs of the tiny turtles (two different breeds), and Two tubs of turtles that were still sort of smallish, but not big enough to be put in with the medium turtles, and too big to be in with the tiny ones.
So they just release them into the wild when they're big enough? I'm officially jealous that I missed that. Can't wait to see the video.
