South of the Border Part IV

I feel like I need to speed this up so I can post about other things.

So we went to Valla Do Lid, and to make a long story short there were a series of miscommunications for the two nights we stayed there and my dad ended up going to the same restaurant both nights, to wait for my mom and I. Then had to tell the waiter to hold the table while he went to hunt us down. I'm sure the guy thought we were all freaks. At the restaurant there was a very interesting picture. My mother and I spotted it from across the room, and we both agreed that it's very odd, and that it looks as if it was a victim of bad photoshopping. We sent my dad over to snap a picture of it. It's the one on the right that we thought looked like the head of the bride has been photoshopped in.

So we got checked into a interesting sort of hotel across from the bus station. The wall of the room was painted bright blue, the blankets and curtains were yellow, and the light fixtures were the outdoor kind that one would normally see mounted on the outside of someone's garage. The room was also complete with a crucifix.

Anyway, we went to Chichen-Itza the next morning.

After Chichen-Itza we went back to Vallo Do Lid and checked out a cenote right there in the town. We got there late so there were tons of bats flying out of it. Kind of interesting. Unfortunately my camera battery was dead for that outing.

The next day we took a bus to Coba to visit those ruins:

After Coba we left and went to the ruins at Tulum. Tulum ruins weren't that great, but the view was amazing because they're right on the beach.

After Tulum we caught a bus to Cancun, spent the night in the city there, did some souvenir shopping the next day, and then headed to the airport. I was able to board my departing flight without incident. I made it back to LAX that night around 8pm. Unfortunately my luggage did not join me until the afternoon of the next day. Either way, the whole thing was good times.

1) A hotel across from the bus station. Those are always "interesting"; the proximity to the bus station is usually not a good sign. (2) I see that even after the Battle of the Swim Trunks, Dad insisted on wearing a shirt. You'd think he were allergic to sunscreen. Weird.

The whole thing was weird, but it took enough effort just to convince him that swimming in his blue jeans was a bad idea. I wasn't going to argue about the t-shirt.
