Since I still can't really talk, and I had nothing to do at work today I called in sick. I didn't even have to try to sound sick, I legitimately sound horrible. The idea was that I would be able to sleep in and see if the extra rest could help me kick this thing. (It's like Meredith has observed, I don't get sick all that often, but when I do it pretty much knocks me down flat and takes forever to shake it.) It didn't really work out that way. The grounds crew people at my complex decided that this morning would be the perfect day to get out chain saws and trim the tree right outside my bedroom window, starting at 8am. This continued on until well after 1pm (it was a big tree). So it wasn't really the restful morning I had hoped for. Even my ear plugs proved to be inadequate in blocking out the sounds of a chain saw and falling branches ten feet away.
After an entire day of doing nothing, around 5pm I realized that I had a huge assignment due today at 7pm, and I had not even started it. So, well that pretty much didn't happen. I still went to class and decided to see how much sympathy I could get for sounding like I'm on death's door. I didn't even have to tell the professor that I'd been sick, I just told him that I was not prepared and asked him if I would still be able to turn the assignment in late. Not only did he agree to accept the assignment late, without a penalty, but seemed very concerned about my health. I gotten that reaction from most everyone I've spoken to within the last 4 or 5 days.
I spent a lot of time today contemplating a potential destination for my upcoming move. I've decided that I'm ready to leave HB and the Seacliff ward behind me. I'm just not entirely sure where to go from here. I'm going to check out San Diego, and Palo Alto...and I've been thinking about Las Vegas too. I don't know about Vegas though. It's just such an island out in the middle of nowhere. I think that might be a problem for me. I've always wondered what would happen if something really catastrophic happened in Vegas. Like what if there was a huge terrorist attack...how would people evacuate the area? I-15 can't accommodate that many people all at once and it's hours in any direction to another town. Yeah, these are the stupid kinds of things I contemplate when I have nothing better to do. Anway, maybe I'll make this a poll. Anybody with other suggestions go ahead and put them in the comments.
