I met my future husband...

I've been really trying to have a better attitude about fhe in my ward lately. Until a few weeks ago I'd never actually attended fhe in this ward, so it was probably about time that I step up and start attending. So far it's actually been pretty fun. Tonight we had a combined activitiy with Goldenwest and El Dorado, doing speed dating. I've never actually done speed dating so I didn't really know what to expect.

The first round I had two guys, the first one was preparing to turn in his mission papers, the second one is named Yo, I assume I'm spelling it wrong. Yo was pretty hilarious, and kind of dominated the conversation. The second round I started out with three guys, but some other girls showed up and I ended up with a guy named Angel. Maybe my LBC peeps know him, he goes to El Dorado. I actually thought he was pretty darn hilarious, but a bit of a weirdo too. The next guy was an extremely tall, very skinny guy who is actually in my ward named Drew. He wears blue jeans to church, so even though he's only been in the ward for a couple of weeks he has caught my attention. Anyway, for that round of speed dating we were required to get up and slow dance with your date. Drew was all about twirling, but he was really unexpected about it. Just all of the sudden, in the middle of a sentence he'd pull back and say "okay, twirl." He told me all about how he plays for a band and has spent the last 5 years touring around the world playing in this band. He said that it's been a big adjustment settling in to a strange area where people don't know him, and aren't obsessed with him. The next round I met a very nervous looking guy named Steve. Steve was awkward to say the very least. He was kind of hard to talk to. We finally got a little conversation going, but he still kept shifting nervoulsy around in his seat the entire time. The weird thing is that when it was finally time to get up and rotate to the next round, he didn't seem all that eager to part company. He just stared at me like I'd stood up and told him to take a hike when I told him it was nice to meet him and got up to rotate.

The last rotation I was all lined up to talk to a very nice looking guy when the woman from my roommate's bridal shower suddenly showed up. I guess she had spotted me from across the room. She came over and snatched me away from my current date to go over and meet her son. Her son was not very attractive, and I'm relatively certain that he's shorter than me. A nice guy though. So I chatted with him for a while. I must have made a pretty good impression on him too, because he said that we'll definitely be in touch. He was pretty entertaining. He seemed predictably embarrassed by his mother and grandmother's enthusiasm.

I am so glad I am not in that dating scene anymore. Hearing stories about it brings smiles however. Good luck with that! It sounds like you have some guys to pick from :)

Just make sure they are all BYU fans or at least potential converts!
