Hearding Cattle

The mid-singles conference ended today with a sacrament meeting, lunch and a fireside. The sacrament meeting was good, okay, there was one talk that was a little tough to listen to, but there's just no need to get into all of that.

During the lunch afterwards the women were asked to go through the food lines first, and Bishop Lang stood on the stand and made mooing noises through the microphone as the women started lining up. It was pretty hilarious. I've never met a Bishop quite like Bishop Lang.

After lunch everyone was just milling around socializing. The women at this conference outnumbered the guys at least 3 to 1. So it was kind of interesting to sit back and watch the girls compete for attention. I'm of the opinion that there's just no sense in waiting in line to talk to a man, or trying to shoulder someone else out of the way in order to grab his attention, I appear to be very much alone in that opinion. It was next to impossible to talk to any one person for more than a minute or two without someone else interrupting.

The highlight of the day, and maybe even the entire conference came right at the end while I was standing around talking to Bucko. We both witnessed this, so I know I didn't imagine it. A woman was walking across the gym. She was pretty average looking, and maybe a bit on the frumpy side. A nerdy looking man was obviously checking her out as she approached. Just as she strolled by, Bucko and I watched as the man stuck his foot out in front of her. The woman stumbled a bit, and turned around to face the man. He just said something about being really sorry, but he was smiling, and obviously hoping for some additional interaction with her. She glared at him, turned around and stalked off. It was really pretty surreal, and Bucko and I just stood there speechless for a second before one of us asked the other if they'd really just seen that man intentionally trip her in what appeared to be an attempt at forming some sort of connection. What I wouldn't give for a videotape of that one.

That was absolutely amazing! I could not believe what I had seen. I took "tripping" and "wedgies" out of my bag of tricks back in 5th grade.
