Cat Attack

The majority of yesterday's training class was taught by a member of the SDPD sex crimes unit. Towards the end he had us listen to tape recordings of two 911 calls. The first one was a girl who had woken up in her apartment with a stranger there. She managed to throw some elbows and knock him off of her. He left and she locked her bedroom door, and called 911. Needless to say the caller was freaking out. She was hyperventilating and kept telling the operator to hurry because she was afraid he was still in the apartment and/or was going to come back. Right towards the end of the call the operator had reassured her that the officers were almost there, and she sounded like she was at least starting to breathe normal when all of the sudden there was this weird noise on the line, she yelled, and it sounded like the phone dropped. The 911 operator asked her what was happening. It took the girl a second to respond and then she said that everything was fine, her cat had just become stressed out and attacked her. The police officer stopped the tape and the first thing he said was "and that's why I have a dog." Unfortunately the second call didn't provide any such comic relief.
