Does that say what I think it does?

Aren't "pulgas" fleas? I think I'm right, but I lack the energy to look it up and verify that for certain. Every time I drive past this road I find myself wondering what inspired that name.

Yes that means the fleas.

So I was a Marine Officer on Camp Pendleton and I heard some of the old wives tales about certain things with the area around Camp Pendleton. Supposedly, Las Pulgas was a way-station (not sure if that is spelled right) of caravans from San Diego to Los Angeles back in the day. They would use it as kind of a gypsy camp and "the fleas" reference deals with the nature of the caravans being more flea infested than the rest of the people. Kind of like 'the Great Unwashed'.

Oh, well that sounds like a good enough explanation to me. Thanks for the information.
