I love the news. I used to rely on the board for my updates on all the latest, but since I don't go there much anymore I've turned into a complete news junkie. I usually read most of the Deseret News, and all the top CNN stories, skim through the headlines from the international news, and last but not least, I read CNN's crime page in it's entirety.
I believe that my fascination with crime stories started with a movie Sarah and I watched a long, long time ago about Lizzie Borden. The idea of hacking someone up to start with is so gruesome that I just can't even begin to imagine anyone doing such a thing. The fact that they could never prove she did it makes it all the more interesting. I went from there to Jack the Ripper, Ted Bundy, the Boston Strangler, Jeffrey Dahmer, etc...and at some point I discovered forensic tv shows.
Since I freak myself out easily I can only watch shows about violent crime with other people. I've had roommates who have not only refused to watch them with me, but then asked that I not watch those shows in our home at all, because they believe that they invite a bad spirit. Fancy that, shows about murder and torture bringing in a bad spirit...
So instead I've taken to reading the news. Yesterday was a particularly rough news day on the crime page, and I was forced to face the reality that reading about it isn't a whole lot better than watching a documentary on TV. I'm going to have to abandon the crime page, but first I need to wait until the jury ends deliberations and comes back with a verdict on Sheila LaBarre's insanity plea. My vote is for prison time.

You know how I love those types of shows too. Remember when we use to live together and we would watch those shows all the time. I finally had to give them up when McBride said they weren't good for me to watch because I got to scared. But occasionally I still watch them. 48 Hrs Mysteries are a good alternative!
