Hoover Dam

Sunday Shaine, Patty and I turned around and drove back to California. On the way back we decided that since none of us have ever been to Hoover Dam, that it was high time that we go check it out. So we took a little trip out to the dam. It took significantly longer than we anticipated, since traffic was backed up for miles. We were committed though, and no one was in a big rush to get back, so we sat in our nice air conditioned for an hour or so. Let me just say, once we got parked and got out of the car that's when I started to second guess the wisdom in this trip. It was so hot and windy that the moment I stepped out of the car it felt like I was being blasted by a gigantic hairdryer.

We stayed at the dam for a little over an hour, and I have a ton of pictures, but I haven't had a chance to get them off my camera yet. So look for those coming soon.

Traffic was pretty bad coming into Barstow, and we couldn't figure out what was the delay. It was backed up for miles. We were moving so slow that while I was driving I rolled down my window, stuck my hands out and clipped my nails. Turns out the hold up was at the agricultural check place. About a mile from the station we saw a sign that read "watch for slowing traffic." It was only you know, 30 miles too late. We got home pretty late, but bad traffic coming home is a lot easier to deal with than bad traffic leaving.
