Drive Through Christmas

Tonight was the ward Christmas party. We go on a harbor cruise through Newport Harbor, with a catered dinner from the Newport Rib Company. To be honest I just go for the food, but the harbor cruise part is kind of cool too. The food was great. I was one of the first people to disembark when the boat docked.

I rode there with a roommate and another girl from the ward. On our way home we decided to take a little detour to the drive through nativity at the community church on 17th street. Nothing like a hispanic Angel Gabriel with a heavy accent in one scene, and a 70 year old white Angel Gabriel in the next, a Roman soldier with reading glasses, and a Virgin Mary who appears to be in her mid-forties and delivers her lines with all the emotion of a brick to invite the spirit of the holiday. Seriously, it was kind of funny, but I loved it, and the little lambs were adorable. One of the cows in the stable scene was so intent on eating hay that it completely blocked the view of the manger, despite the little shephard who was over there tugging on it's rope. Oh, and we got a free little candy cane at the end.
