Bees

I went for a walk on the beach yesterday and stepped on a bee. Naturally I got stung on the bottom of my foot. I felt a sharp shooting little pain in my foot, and to my own disgust had to reach down and yank out the still squirming bee. I continued along the beach, and kept waiting for it to become really painful. I'm not going to say that it felt good, or didn't hurt, but it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. Walking on it wasn't a problem. I must have walked a good quarter of a mile in the sand before I stopped to inspect the injury, and then saw that the stinger was still stuck in there, so I pulled that out and continued on home. A few hours later my foot was a little red, and slightly swollen, but it just wasn't that big of a deal. I've never been stung by a bee before, and I always thought it would be some kind of crippling pain. Turns out it's not, and although I don't want it to be debilitating, but at the same time the fact that it isn't is a little bit of a letdown. All that hype for nothing...
