Procrastination at it's finest.

My car has been having some issues starting lately. Based on what was going on when I tried to start it, and the fact that these issues arose at the same time the weather went cold, I figured that it must be a problem with the battery. So of course the responsible thing to do would have been to take it down to Autozone, and have them come out and test the battery free of charge, and then see if the battery is situated in such a place that I could replace it myself. (I've been told that it isn't, but I haven't actually looked to see if that's the case.) Of course that's not how I chose to handle the issue though. I continued to drive it, and everytime I got in the car sort of hold my breath hoping that it was going to start again. I had kind a scare a few days okay when I was almost trapped in Norwalk at 10pm with a dead cell phone battery. I have to admit that I was saying a frantic little prayer that I could just get 4 or 5 more starts out of it until I had a chance to take it in and get it dealt with. It started on the next try, so then I felt like I had no business pushing my luck. So yesterday when I went outside and tried to start the car, it struggled more than it has in the past. As soon as I got it started I drove it straight to the shop, and told them that I recommend not turning it off until they had it situated where they wanted it, since I was relatively certain they'd have a hard time getting it started again.

My friend who works there came out to chat with me, and while I was distracted talking to him, and not paying attention to the car, some service guy came up and turned the engine off. As predicted after a good 5-10 minutes of trying to start it they had to drag out one of those huge jumper things to get it started again. Of course it was an exceptionally busy day for the shop, so there were cars backing up behind mine. I laugh about it now, but I know that I wouldn't be nearly as amused had I driven it all the way to work and spent my Friday night hanging out in the parking lot searching for some Good Samaritan to let me jump it off of their car. At least I carry cables. Anyway, I'm headed down right now to retrieve my little car. I don't love the loner, so I'm excited to have my car back.

Hey, if you're comfortable hanging out alone in dark parking lots in Norwalk late at night, that's your business.
