Passed

I went down to San Diego after work for my screening interview for this volunteer job. The lady asked me lots of questions. There were questions like "will you have problems assisting people that you have a bias towards?" "what do you do to calm yourself down when you are upset, or emotionally distressed?" "Are you going to be able to stand your ground when police or medical personnel get pushy?" and my favorite "Are you a survivor of sexual assault, or domestic violence?" That last one was followed by an explanation that it's okay that I'm not (didn't realize that was something to aspire towards) because it will probably make me a better volunteer. However, this whole time I thought they were trying to establish that I'm relatively normal. How wrong was I...she said that she thinks I'll be very good at this, and that the people that volunteer for this are basically not normal, which is why they're willing to do it. That's why the staff has to be very careful to make sure that we're actually able to handle the experience. Nice to know I'm an acceptable version of abnormal.
