I don't generally blog about my political views. It's that whole thing with not being able to gauge how close to the edge I've managed to push someone, which never fails to leave me in a little bit of shock when the other person loses composure and lashes out. A discussion about welfare left one roommate in tears, a little debate about gun control ended with a co-worker shouting at me at the top of her lungs (thankfully it was over lunch, and not in the office), and then the many and varied emotional reactions that my apparently very controversial views on illegal immigration have evoked have all taught me to avoid political discussions. Although, I am just juvenile enough to point out that in all of the above instances the other person started it.
However, today I've decided to make exception to my little rule, so that I can communicate my astonishment at this whole raid on the FLDS down in Texas. I think I'm not unique in being annoyed everytime I meet someone who believes that LDS and FLDS are one and the same, and in wishing that the whole little group would get broken up and go away. That being said, I am disturbed by how this is being handled. Dragging away all the children, with their mothers in tow, going searching through the entire community, confiscating all kinds of documents, including personal journals, and barging into their temple. All this because a girl made a phone call alleging that she was being abused by her husband. A girl who it turns out may or may not even exist... I just sit there reading these articles wondering if I'm the only one that thinks this is a problem. Last I checked you have to have some solid evidence to take away someone's children. I don't like what goes on in that community either, but this doesn't seem even close to legal. I don't see how any kind of evidence that's been collected is ever going to stand up in court, unless Texas is now operating under their own judicial system... Maybe they are, Constitutional rights don't seem to mean much down that direction anyway. I'm curious to see how this all plays out.

By reading your blog, it's evident that you have a strong bias towards the FLDS "cult" down in Texas. I am not sure how many similarities both of your religions have in common, or if you too have been a victim of these "injustices", but to blame the whole judicial system seems a bit overboard. For starters, who are we here to protect? the cult who manipulates people or the innocent children. Children services is very clear when their "possible" dager for the well being of any children. They must protect and REMOVE the children from such danger. I hope that the judge sees this case for what it is. A true injustice for the poor children who have been manipulated by the CULT.
Wow, well that was pretty great. You know sometimes you have to be out there actively seeking for stuff that makes you laugh, and then there are other times when that stuff actually seeks you out. Looks like today was my lucky day! :)
i think almost all mormons would strongly disagree with your post, those people are a messed up cult.
It's because you're related to some of the FLDS cult. That explains a lot about the way you act, look, think, etc.
Thank you for your contributions.
