I went in and chatted with my bishop a few weeks ago about getting a recommend. He said that I need to attend a seven week long temple prep course during Sunday school. Today was my third week attending this course, and I've decided that when the bishop said that he wanted me to attend temple prep, I think what he really meant was "I think you should revert back to primary for 7 weeks before I give you a recommend." I sat in the class today wondering if I would be taught something that I didn't learn before the age of 12...nope, not this week. Maybe next?
Were I a convert I think it might be very useful. For a lifetime member, unless you've been asleep at the switch for the better part of your life, I don't really see the point. Although today some of the advise they gave us was kind of interesting. Things like "If you're going to a temple outside of the local area, make sure that you plan out where you're going to spend the night," or "You should only wear your temple dress to the temple. You wouldn't wear it to work on Friday, and then the temple on Saturday." "You shouldn't try on your g's before going through the temple." Things I'd never even considered, maybe I'm not as creative as I thought.
