Fries

Yesterday was my Dad's birthday Jared and I took the parents out to lunch. Sarah was at work, so Jared had charge of Thor. I've never seen a kid that was more enthused about food. Despite the fact that he has fat rolls all over every inch of his body, if he even suspects someone is about to eat he gets this really desperate hungry look on his face and starts thrashing around. Bottles don't fascinate him nearly as much as real people food does, so at lunch when they brought everyone their plates Jared gave him a french fry to chew on. He's still in that phase where he assumes a death grip on anything that comes within his grasp.

(Exhibit A, Okay, well if his fingers weren't so fat you could tell that he's got a firm grip on my finger in this picture.)
The french fry Jared gave him was instantly mutilated in his grasp, and smashed beyond recognition. When that french fry was gone he cried until Jared gave him another one. This went on for some time until Jared finally handed him a fry and while we were all watching little Thor grabbed the fry smashed it, and then tried to jam it into his mouth, but he missed and it fell out of his hand, so he immediately started waiving his arms around to signal his dad for another fry. Jared bent down to pick the mangled fry up off the floor and all the sudden all we hear from under the table is "WHAT?!?! YOU HAVEN'T BEEN EATING ANYTHING!" I looked down, and scattered all around under the high chair were the remnants of a dozen or so mangled french fries. I guess Thor just gummed the smashed fries a bit until he somehow managed to drop them, and then cried for a new one. None of us were paying enough attention to verify whether or not the fries were in fact being consumed. Here's a few more pictures I snapped of him while I was in Utah. I discovered that he loves seeing pictures of himself, he smiled and flapped his arms around more when he saw the pictures than he did while I was taking them. As Sarah pointed out "there's nothing quite as exciting as a good picture of oneself, is there Bub?"
