Maid Service
I have discovered an unexpected side effect to having a housekeeper. I would say in general I am pretty clean, but every now and again my room starts to get all cluttered up with things that are out of place. In theory it seems like having the maid would mean that someone else comes in and picks up all of my stuff for me. Wrong. Turns out it doesn't work that way. Instead, every night before she comes I find myself surveying my room, and if there's anything laying around that needs to be picked up, put away, or organized, I do it, because I don't want the maid to think I'm a slob. I wind up having everything all picked up so that all she has to do in my bedroom is vacuum the floor and make my bed. It's the same story in the rest of the house, I make a sweep of the entire house to make sure none of my stuff is laying around, and I know my roommates do the same thing. I never would have guessed that having a housekeeper would create so much pressure for me to pick up my own personal living space.
